An update from Team Danny
143,000 voters. 114,000 phones. 87,000 doors. That’s how many registered voters there are with phone numbers to call and doors to knock.
There’s a lot of excitement about Danny, and people often ask: How can I help? One of the most impactful things you can do is join us in our effort to talk to potential voters by volunteering to canvass or phone bank. It might sound scary at first, but when you canvass and phone bank, here is what you are really doing:
- Sharing your story about why you are volunteering to help Danny’s campaign.
- Asking your neighbors questions about what matters to them.
- Finding shared values and fostering connection.
- Having a real conversation about the future of our city and how Danny will make it better
A few of us on our own can knock on just 100 doors at a canvassing event. But! If 40 people sign up to volunteer, we can knock on 1,000 doors! And then, imagine if each of those people launched their own canvassing events in their own neighborhoods — and got their friends involved as well. That’s how we reach everyone.
Danny is building a broad-based, diverse coalition of Richmonders. He has deeply cared about Richmond for a long time, and, as a campaign, we think one way we can show we care about the people in our city is by talking to as many voters in Richmond as possible. We’ve already started, and we’d like to invite you to go ahead and sign up for an upcoming canvassing event to help out!

Looking back
Danny stopped by an Election Watch Party on Primary Night at Harlym Blue’Z to celebrate with fellow Democrats Tim Kaine, Jenn McClellan, Ghazala Hashmi and the brand new Democratic congressional candidate from the 1st District, Leslie Mehta. It was a great chance to catch up with friends and hear some great music from Senator Tim Kaine and the owner of Harlym Blue’Z.
Danny celebrated Juneteenth with a visit to A Better Day Than Yesterday with LeTeisha Gordon and Thomas Mundy. They use their life experiences to lift others up by providing critical services for people coming home from incarceration.
Dinner at the Underground Kitchen Jubilee was incredible, with narrative-driven dishes honoring Black history and liberation.
