TEAM DANNY
As the former Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney, I am excited to support Danny as the city’s next mayor. He understands and cares about the needs of Richmond residents. More importantly, Danny is a proven and effective leader.
For over a decade I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate across the metropolitan area in service of those struggling with food insecurity. I have seen firsthand Danny’s thoughtful leadership in helping those who are under-served and under-resourced access services with dignity and grace. His authenticity and true caring underpins his sincere commitment for all Richmonders to thrive. Danny is in this race for all the right reasons – and has my enthusiastic support to be our next Mayor.
I have known and worked with Danny Avula for over a decade, addressing affordable housing and public health issues. Richmond can be a deeply divided City and so it is essential we elect a leader sho listens and who can unite the city toward the progress residents deserve. Danny Avula stands out as the best young leader with a vision to tackle Richmond’s challenges. As a former Public Health Director for the City and Henrico and former Commissioner of Social Services for Virginia, Danny Avula understands how bureaucracy works and how to build coalitions for collaborative change to help all citizens thrive and create a world-class capital city. I am personally endorsing Danny Avula for Mayor of Richmond.
As a local member of the General Assembly who is particularly concerned about poverty, housing affordability, and access to affordable, quality healthcare, I am pleased to endorse Dr. Danny Avula for Mayor. I know Danny’s life’s work has been to help uplift those who are struggling, and I am confident he will bring that expertise and that passion to being Mayor.
As a lifelong Richmonder dedicated to driving social impact at scale across various sectors, I wholeheartedly endorse Danny Avula for Mayor. To move Richmond forward, we need a leader with a track record of strategic problem-solving, collaboration, innovation, and the courage to make tough decisions and push boundaries in enacting positive change. Danny embodies these qualities and he will lead and unite this City that I love, positively impacting residents of every walk of life. Danny’s vision for a vibrant, thriving, and equitable Richmond is exactly what we need to build a brighter future for everyone.
Like many, I’m deeply invested in who we elect as our next Mayor. I care as a Richmonder, a parent, and a City Council member. Danny’s experience leading public health at multiple large agencies, his family’s deep commitment to RPS and our city’s communities, and his ability to collaborate across the many levels of government are critical qualifications for Richmond’s success. He has earned my family’s vote.
As a former professor at Virginia Union’s School of Business, I know how large organizations work most effectively and successfully. That is why I am endorsing Dr Danny Avula for Richmond Mayor. I have watched Danny’s extensive career in public health and in managing large institutions and he can and will bring the change Richmond needs.
I have spent my career fighting to improve access to basic healthcare for my community. As a long-time advocate and activist working to prevent HIV and increase health literacy, I have seen Danny’s commitment to serving not just our LGBTQ communities but all communities. Even when prejudice or ignorance has caused other people to disengage with our work, Danny has been a partner in keeping people healthy. I am confident he will be a capable and compassionate Mayor who will serve all Richmonders, regardless of skin color, age, sexual or gender identity, country of origin, or any of the other ways that our society can otherwise challenge our neighbors’ ability to thrive.
I have spent much of my career working in government, including as Chief of Staff for two Virginia Governors so I know and understand the skills and experience necessary to lead and succeed in the public sector. Dr. Danny Avula has those skills and his experience having run the Richmond City Health District and as Commissioner of Social Services is invaluable for the moment Richmond faces now. Richmoners are very fortunate he is willing to step up and he certainly has my vote!
As someone who has dedicated my life to fighting for vulnerable children and families, I take notice when I see leaders who authentically engage in that mission. Dr. Danny Avula is one of those leaders. Over his career in public health and social services, he has done tremendous work to improve the health and well-being of communities, with a particular focus on marginalized communities of color. I have also seen him live that out in his personal life. As a resident of the East End for 20 years, Danny has been a neighbor and friend to so many. Richmond would be fortunate to have Dr. Avula as its next mayor, and I am proud to endorse him.
Richmond’s next Mayor should do more than talk about women’s rights and healthcare access; they should deliver real improvements for families. As a Nurse, I’m endorsing Danny Avula for Mayor because he has a track record of expanding access to healthcare and focusing on the disparities that leave too many women without the options they deserve. In City Hall, Danny will work to create the partnerships and programs that will truly meet the needs of Richmond families.
I’ve known Danny and worked closely with him in Church Hill where he has lived for 20 years. I know first-hand about his commitment to the entire community and his willingness to put his time and effort where his heart is. Honoring Black leadership as a means of healing some of Richmond’s oldest wounds is a lived reality that Danny remains intentional about. I know Danny as a family man with deep commitment to his faith and serving others; especially those impacted by some of the historical inequities of our city. As a pastor, native of Richmond, former school board chair, and a board member of many organizations in the community, I am eager to have Danny’s expertise and servant-hearted leadership in City Hall, moving Richmond to being the best it can be for all of its citizens.
I strongly support and wholeheartedly endorse Danny Avula for Mayor. I spent 16 years at City Hall and I know what it takes to get the job done. Danny is the only candidate with decades long experience in public health, solving problems and running large institutions with efficiency and effectiveness. He knows the importance of freedom from gun violence and the freedom to make decisions about our own bodies and the freedom to love who we want. Danny has lived in the East End for many years and sent all five of his children to Richmond Public Schools. He will stand with our students to improve educational outcomes and accountability, expanding economic opportunities for all Richmonders. Please vote for my friend, Dr. Danny Avula
I have worked closely with Danny and seen his dedication, his intellect, and his unfailing commitment to improving lives. In local public health in the City, he has been innovative and steadfast and has built trust not only through his expertise but through his deep partnership with our communities. At the Department of Social Services, he zeroed in quickly on the improvements the agency needed to make to better serve families. I can’t wait to see what he’ll do leading City Hall.
