Richmond, VA — Dr. Danny Avula, Mayor-elect of the City of Richmond, today announced that his Inauguration Celebration, “A Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together”, will take place on January 11 at locations in each of the city’s nine Council Districts. Tim Kaine, Anne Holton, Jennifer McClellan, and Dave Mills will serve as co-chairs of the Inaugural Committee.
”Danny enters office with a clear vision of a Richmond with opportunities for everyone,” said Jennifer McClellan. “From his work in public health, social services, in the community, and now as mayor, Richmonders entrusted Danny to deliver on this vision. This inauguration will be a recognition of how we can all work together to help every community thrive.”
The theme for Mayor-Elect Avula’s Inauguration Day is “A Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together”, and the day’s events will center around community volunteer opportunities in each of the nine City Council districts. Later that evening, the Inaugural Committee will host an evening reception to celebrate a shared commitment to moving Richmond forward.
In addition to the four co-chairs, the Inaugural Committee will be adding more members to support Danny’s priorities to move Richmond forward, protecting everyone’s rights and making sure no one is left behind.
“The trust these leaders have in me is humbling,” said Danny. “I’m super thankful for the example of leadership they’ve set in our region, and I’ve already learned so much from them. Honestly, having the opportunity to serve Richmond together with them is an absolute dream.”
The Inaugural Committee will announce more details, including volunteer opportunities, in the coming weeks. If you have any questions regarding the Inauguration Celebration or events, please contact Rachel Dyer, Inaugural Director, at rachel@dyerstrategies.com.
